The importance of orthodontics
Orthodontics is concerned with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of malocclusions of the teeth and jaw.
For many people, such dental misalignments are an aesthetic problem. However, the effects often go beyond that:
They can affect the functionality of the teeth and the masticatory system, promote tooth decay, and even impair the ligaments and joints in the oral cavity.
This is precisely where braces come to the rescue: they straighten teeth again and support overall health.
In our practice in Vienna, we offer modern orthodontics, individually tailored to the age, the type of malocclusion and the patients' wishes.

Invisible braces
(Aligner)
For mild to moderate dental misalignments, so-called aligner systems, i.e. transparent, removable plastic splints, are suitable.
They are virtually invisible, making them a discreet form of orthodontic treatment and orthodontics.
Removable braces
Removable braces usually consist of a plastic plate with individually adjusted wires.
These braces can also be removed and are likewise suitable for correcting mild to moderate misalignments.
As these braces are available in a range of colours, they are particularly popular with young patients.
Such braces are not suitable for adults, as the aim in such cases is usually to widen the jaw as well. In adults, jaw growth has finished, so treatment with removable braces is no longer an option.
Fixed braces
With fixed braces, either metal brackets or aesthetic ceramic brackets (glass-ceramic) can be used to straighten the teeth.
These brackets are bonded to the teeth and connected by a wire archwire. This allows tooth movements to be precisely controlled.
We use both metal and tooth-coloured ceramic brackets.
After the fixed braces are removed, a retainer (a small wire) is attached to the inside of the teeth. This keeps the teeth permanently in shape and is so thin that it is not noticeable in everyday life.
Early treatment for children
Whether children, teenagers or adults: braces are an option at any age.
If malocclusions are noticed even in childhood, they can be treated early with gentle orthodontic treatments.
Such treatment can help to avoid the need for more extensive procedures later on and promote healthy jaw and tooth development.
Rely on these benefits
Children and patients who are anxious often feel stressed or frightened during orthodontic treatment. To make the appointment easier, we have a screen above the treatment chair to provide a distraction.
At the beginning, we carry out a detailed diagnosis and planning phase. Using lateral cephalometric analysis, model measurement and photo documentation, we identify functional limitations at an early stage and ensure successful orthodontic treatment.

As a private practice, we have the luxury of being able to take time for our patients. We will accompany you throughout the entire course of treatment, inform you about oral hygiene with braces, answer your questions and are here for all your concerns.
Thanks to modern technology, we tailor braces optimally and can monitor the progress of the treatment. This is how we ensure optimal function of the teeth and jaw while simultaneously improving the appearance of your teeth.

Free brace and dental benefits
Our practice in Vienna is a Private practice with a contract with the SVS and KFA health insurance funds.
Children and young people under the age of 18 with a severe dental or jaw misalignment (IOTN grade 4 or 5) may be eligible for a subsidy towards orthodontic treatment from their health insurance provider.
Interceptive treatment (before the age of 10):
- Cost: approx. € 1,200 – € 1,900
- Refund: 80 % of the current health insurance tariff following successful treatment (one-off payment)
Fixed appliance („free braces“):
- Prerequisite: IOTN 4 or 5, treatment with metal brackets
- Cost: approx. €5,000 – €8,000
- Reimbursement: 80 % of the applicable cash payment rate
Important: The treatment must be authorised in advance by the health insurance fund. We will issue the notice regarding the misalignment following the diagnostics.
What do I need to know about braces?
What do I need to know about braces?
A fixed brace cannot be removed. Therefore, good oral hygiene is particularly important to thoroughly clean the area around the brackets – and the brackets themselves. Our team will advise you in detail on what is necessary for this.
For the treatment success in a removable brace It is important to wear the brace regularly (as instructed), often overnight and for a few hours during the day. In addition, careful oral hygiene and thorough cleaning of the brace should also be ensured here.
To Successes of orthodontic treatment to maintain it permanently, a wire is bonded to the back of the teeth after brace treatment. This holds the teeth in their position and is so thin that it is barely noticed in everyday life and causes no irritation.

Additionally, clinic assistant Alina impresses with her extremely friendly manner and professional demeanour. Vivienne was also very accommodating and carried out an excellent dental hygiene treatment.
The location has good transport links; it is best to travel by public transport as there is hardly any parking in the surrounding area, and it is about a five-minute walk from Praterstern.
